Its unclear whether this compilation is the ubiquitous Len Goodmans personal selection, or whether he's merely lent his name to it, but either way I find it disappointing. Warning bells rang when I read the label 3 CDs of Big Band Classics & Len's All Time Favourite Songs which, coming on top of the title Crooners and Swooners, indicates a real dog's breakfast. Instead of using his in depth knowledge to introduce lesser-known masterpieces to the buying public Len has preferred to play it safe, resulting in an overall selection that is for the most part boringly predictable. It's also worth bearing in mind that all these numbers are retreads, which makes a playing time of around one hour per CD rather less of a bargain than at first appears.
