The four tracks display the diversity of Distal's production palette; lead cut "Ridge City" is a swirling mass of unpredictable snare rolls and epic strings which contrasts nicely with the tense, stripped down "25 Automatic" which has a touch of Maurice Donovan about it. Manwhile "106 Degrees" is slightly deranged, sub-heavy jacking house whilst "Drone Circle" pairs blissed out clouds of synths with ghetto house dynamism.

Having served up his debut LP Civilisation for Tectonic in May last year, Distal makes a welcome return to Pinch's operation with the four track Shadow Egg EP. The Atlanta-based producer has been in ceaseless form over the past few years, racking up drops for Well Rounded, Sinden's Grizzly, Seclusias and of course his own Embassy Recordings, and his growing clutch of Tectonic releases only increases Distal's profile as the premiere US ambassador of bass music.
