Today is a folk rock ballad written by Marty Balin and Paul Kantner from the band Jefferson Airplane. It first appeared on their breakthrough album, Surrealistic Pillow, with a live version later appearing on the expanded rerelease of Bless Its Pointed Little Head. Hummer was written after overcoming a period of crippling writers' block, so it makes sense that it sounds like a huge sigh of relief. The whole song feels like a glorious epiphany there's a calm before the storm, a cathartic release and then, most beautifully, a gentle wind-down to true serenity. Teenager of the Year was Frank Blacks second solo album, produced by former Pere Ubu member Eric Drew Feldman, who also played keyboards. This album is often cited as the high-point of Francis post-Pixies catalogue.
